That Zune Tattoo Guy’s Got Nothing On This

Spiderman Tattoo (Image courtesy Emptees)
By Andrew Liszewski

It seems more people are getting tattoos these days to show loyalty to a particular brand or product than for traditional rebellious reasons. We’ve all seen our share of Nintendo, Apple or even Zune tattoos, but none of them come even close to the ink that one Spiderman fan had done. The tattoo is designed to look like the guy’s skin is actually being torn away to reveal the Spiderman costume underneath. While I personally think having the Superman logo revealed on his chest would’ve been slightly cooler, this tattoo is still an impressive piece of work.

You can check out the thread that this tattoo spawned on Emptees.com, but I have to warn you that some of the other tattoos are definitely not safe for work.

great detail but why, dear god, why did he get the movie’s suit? even the 70s suit would have been better.

  2. trauma Says:

red ink = cinnabar = mercury poisoning and granulomas

  6. Ben Says:

Spiderman doesn’t rip his skin off, so the costume should appear to be peeling away!

  7. holly Says:

because i’m sure he’s worried about mercury poisoning.

  8. badfrog Says:

That is so stupid, what a terrible tattoo idea. What is he going to think when he is 85. Completely stupid.

  12. Jim Says:

Red inks aren’t made with cinnabar anymore because of mercury toxicity.

  13. Anonymous Says:

So how long did this take and how much money was it?

    Forever shaving

  24. Noire Says:

    Interesting idea.
The execution on the torso is done much more crisply and cleanly than the arms. Where the torso looks to be a natural removal of skin, the arms look more artificial, and the skin doesn’t “hang” or “peel” right. Was that done by two different artists?

  25. Anonymous Says:

    hOLY DOG SHIT BATMAN!!

  26. jesse*shoehead23* Says:

lol this tattoo is awesome. he must have woken up the next morning and been like”fuck.”

  27. SAJ Says:

Personally, I think it’s badass. If it makes him happy, more power to him.

  28. dan hazelton Says:

hey everyone. i did the spider man tattoos above. thanks for the comments even though alot of you are overwhelming with the typical, average joe, old fashioned attitude towards tattooing. its 2008 guys. to each their own.

im sure id think alot of you are goofs for some of the things you do in life. remember, things that would be amusing to the average conservative public can bore the hell out of others.

the top 2 tattoos are on different people. the arm one is a few years older. i wanted that guy to get his on the chest for obvious reasons. he didnt want it there. then the second guy came in wanting it where i origionally wanted to do it, so i did.

so anyway, thank you for all the positive comments.

    dan

  29. Littlechicken Says:

although as mentioned above, it may make you feel quite odd when you turn 80, you can’t deny the fact that IT IS an incredible piece of work!!, definitely more power to you, Having such awesome superhero embedded in your skin!

  30. Dan Says:

The artwork is incredibly well-rendered. I’m not a tattoo person myself, but I certainly can admire excellent work. I’m not huge on the subject-matter either, but if it means something to the person it’s part of, then that’s all that matters. As for what cj said above, I am gay. Really gay. What exactly are you getting at?

  31. PotataChipz Says:

I don’t understand why this is oh so commercial. Spiderman is a story, not a product line. Yeah, there was a movie, and yeah, there is merchandise, but you would hope someone would put this permanently on their skin for love of the hero, not his action figures.

  32. aunt may Says:

    FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!

  33. lassie Says:

they’ll have other things to worry about when he’s eighty than tattoos.
    give it a break.

  34. nooneuneed2know Says:

Why do so many of you assume that you change who you are when you age?
What a sad sentiment about your current character.

  35. Anonymous Says:

i think it’s a shitty thing to get tattooed on yourself, but it’s at least a good quality tattoo. way to go, dan

  36. AestheticWaif Says:

Man, I’d love to have a Super-Hero living inside of me. Great work!

  37. Anonymous Says:

I’m more curious to find out if that is a third nipple, or a birthmark. But I do LOVE the tattoos, very sexy.
