Showers Go Digital

By Evan Ackerman

The most noticeably analog location in your home is most likely your bathroom, what with all the old fashioned knobs and dials that allow only imprecise degrees of control. The Grohe Ondus AquaFountain is out to fix all that with a slick all digital interface inside a slicker matte black case. Use the backlit touchpad and LCD to input the exact temperature that you want, and the shower will remember, even if you hit the pause button (how cool is that) to go check your email in between shampoo and conditioner. The showerhead itself emulates a waterfall, while the detachable handset (handset?) is designed to feel more like rain. The touchpad has a few other buttons which I haven’t been able to puzzle out, including male and female (with a dress on, strangely) icons. Perhaps it’s a control for his or hers heated towel racks, or maybe, if you push one, your shower will find you some company.

I hope I don’t push the wrong button when I’m in my early morning fog!
