1:1 Scale 1940 Ford Coupe Model Kit

Members of the St. Joe Valley Street Rod Club from South Bend, Indiana apparently have a lot of free time on their hands. For the 47th annual Cavalcade of Wheels that took place in South Bend they created this 1:1 scale version of a 1940 Ford Coupe model kit. The box which was constructed with the help of a local large format printer is 14 feet long and 6 feet high and holds an actual unassembled Ford Coupe.

In fact they even went as far as to mount the engine block, heads and other chrome pieces into large “part trees” to complete the whole model effect. I have to admit the whole setup looks pretty impressive but from my experience the only thing that’s missing is a giant hand with fingers covered in model glue and the Testor’s paint spilled all over my parent’s dining room table.

I love it. How can I get one?
  • That is cool, I like it. Love the car parts on engine block on the model plastic tree.
  • Wow talk about detail. I would love to see that printer!
  • What a great display! Gotta love it.
And if anyone is interested in a kit that doesn't require so much glue, they're available at http://www.uptownsales.com/plastics/cars1.php/3
  • Wow. That's amazing haha. Wonder what they made the actual parts with.

I guess there will be a market for such models! Great!

This really was a very cool display. They even had real cars that matched a display of models on a table.
  • I know this event. I envy these guys for the ideas they came up especially on this 1940 Ford Coupe. I like this car very much.
