Romain Jerome Titanic DNA Watch

If you really loved that Titanic movie (still haven’t seen it BTW) or are just fascinated by the whole saga then you’d probably also be interested in owning a piece of the infamous luxury liner. Romain Jerome, a Swiss watchmaker has created a new timepiece called the Titanic DNA which uses parts of the actual ship in its construction. The watchface has a black dial thanks to a lacquer paint made with coal recovered from the wreck and the housing will be composed of precious metals like platinum in addition to steel procured from what’s left of the ship.
The Titanic DNA will also be limited to a run of 2,012 pieces which is significant since the year 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the ship. I’ve always been less than enthusiastic about people essentially looting the remains of the Titanic for profit but sadly there seems to be plenty of others who don’t share my concerns.
The Romain Jerome website doesn’t list a price for the watch but given what it’s made from I can guarantee it won’t be cheap.

Its really disgusting to use this tragedy for a good busyness. Where can i buy watch with a piece of metal from WTC?

Posted 12:24 am on May 21st, 2007That is horrible…. how could they do that? Even though I am incredibly fascinated of the Titanic and the movie was amazing and incredibly sad, I would never EVER buy this product. As a matter of fact, I would rather protest against it. This is TERRIBLE!!

Posted 3:28 am on October 31st, 2007i agree with robert,ITS THE COAL, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also, the TITANIC is just going to colapse in on itself in 40-90 years anyway because of rust eating bacteria, so why not try and preserve as much of her memory as possible before its to late? also, i think that by preserving as much of her memory as possible, it will remind people that stupid actions (like not putting enough lifeboats on a boat) can have terrible conciquences, and that reminder can keep a tragity like the TITANIC from happening again. (by the way, what do you people think the TITANIC exibit is? thats right,artifacts from the TITANIC!!!!) by the way, i have a neclace with coal from the TITANIC, so i support saving pices of it.
