R2-D2 Themed Mailboxes – Not So Long Ago At A Post Office Not So Far Away…

To help celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars this year the United States Postal Service will be rolling out mailboxes that have been completely wrapped in custom R2-D2 graphics.

They’re not going to fool anyone into thinking it’s an actual astromech droid ready to deliver your postcard to Obi-Wan but they get the idea across. And I think it’s a good idea these will only be appearing at US Post Offices since if they were installed on the streets something tells me they wouldn’t be around for long.

You might also notice that each mailbox has the website uspsjedimaster.com on the front. The site doesn’t appear to be live at the moment but it’s obvious the Post Office has even more Star Wars tie-ins planned. I don’t think a forthcoming line of stamps would be a bad guess.

    hopefully the USPS won't try to put any of these in Boston. the police would mistake it as a bomb and destroy it, along with your letters to grandma.

  • I couldn't wait to hear the story about the r2d2 mailboxes, and would'nt you know I missed it. So of course I had to look it up on the web site. Can wait to see them. It will be fantastic ! Hope they will come up with other ideas to include the other characters.

    In San Fransisco they have these post offices. I was recently visiting and saw one on the street. They are pretty tight and I wanted one for myself.

    Star wars takes place long ago, in a galaxy far, far away. One of two special r 2d2 mailboxes the us post office put up in louisville Ky. Was stolen Tuesday June 19 from the corner of hubbards lane and shelbyville road. Now r2d2 is the droid the post office is looking for.

    Fuck them, nothing productive, why don,t they focus not to damage our mails. Let carrier case it inside the office instead finger it on the street and get it wet on a rainy day.......and wasting gasoline on a mounted route???
