(Video) The EON Touchlight, Interactive 3D Goodness

Microsoft has an IP Ventures program through which they licence some of the technology they create to third parties, so they can further develop them. One such technology is called Touchlight, and has been around for a little over a year. Now, we’re hearing news that it’s fallen into the hands of EON, allegedly the world’s leading interactive visual content management software provider. The technology allows you to project an image onto a screen, and then manipulate it with your fingers in three dimensions. The device is composed of three projectors, and a camera to capture your movements. It’s not quite like an everyday touchscreen however. Some of the tricks it has up its sleeve are rather nice, like being able to recreate your own likeness (which it’s just captured via camera) and allowing you to interact with… well, with yourself. We know this sounds stupid, so we’ve included videos, so everything will make sense.

Right now the technology is aimed at industries keen on showcasing their products, though the company expects prices to drop to reasonable levels in 24 to 36 months.
