I originally saw these two motorcycle concepts in the lower hall of the North American International Auto Show this year in Detroit. Unfortunately while the models were only about 12 inches in length they still looked pretty amazing.

Created by design students Tilmann Schlootz and Oliver Keller for the Michelin Challenge Design 2006 these off-road friendly bikes completely rethink the motorcycle concept. The bendable rubber track these bikes use (which looks a lot like a tank tread) guarantees maximum traction but also easy steering even on the roughest of terrains.

There are currently no plans to build either of these motorcycles but if that ever changes I’ll be at the front of the waiting line for one.
