I write about this for a few reasons. One, I think it embodies the geek spirit quite well. Two, while not exactly new, the delivery method is. What am I talking about?
Well, some ambitious folks have created an ASCII version of the film Star Wars IV. While ASCII art is not hot off the press, the fact that you can now easily view this masterpiece through telnet is. Read on a bit for clear instructions.
If you’re using Mac, open up Terminal, or “CMD??? from the run option of your Windows PC. Type in “telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl” and hit enter a few times. Your truly geeky, wonderfully remastered ASCII version of one of the greatest films of all time will start shortly. Should you have IP V6, you get color!
