I have a DP558 since one year. Functionalities are numerous and wonderfull, but realisation is rather weak.
- I've already return it for repair (2 monthes)
- Remote control is weak, directive and slow response
- DP558 bugs on non compatible divX and have to restart
- Playing JPG pictures is horrible as there is only a non parametrable diaporama mode
- Communication with PC only through a buggy FTP
- Watching TV through the reader with some ms of delay for the sound is not fair!

I'm waiting for a professional upgrade of the software including ergonomic aspects ( lets's say an "Asian like" quality)
Regards

[...] It’s not the first time we mention a KISS player. Last time it was for the DP-558, a networkable DVD player that had the distinction of being able to play nearly every format under the sun: DVD, VCD, SVCD, MPEG-2, DivX, XviD, MPEG-4, Audio CD, WMA, MP3, OGG. It did this either on disc media, or streaming over the network. [...]

Just bought this player.. works with WMV9 as well as DIVX etc. Had a DP 500, remote was flaky and fast forwarding networked files crashed the box often. All is well with IO Data's box so far.

Kiss has been selling the 558 for a while now, the biggest problems with Kiss products is buggy firmware, also they release the players before they are actually ready for the consumer market, sure they frequently do updates to the firmware but still their players doesn't live up to what you would expect in 2005...
