Vauxhall Keycase Only Opens for True Drivers

Some people say they like driving. The owners of these keycases put their money where their mouth is.

Designed by Crispin Jones for the launch of the new Vauxhall Astra, it’s a locked case that contains they keys to your car. To unlock it though, you have to convince it that you’re really, really excited about driving it (presumably, you could also be excited by a number of things, including your arm candy or what have you… I don’t think it’ll know the difference).

It measures your excitement level though a galvanic skin response sensor on the front of the keycase. These sensors are used in polygraph tests and essentially measure minute changes in sweat levels on the surface of the skin. If you’re so inclined, go educate yourself about it here.

In any case, it’s a neat little gimmick. There are only two in existence right now, as it was used as a promotional tool, I think. The idea is very stimulating though.
