Mecha Venus Flytrap

flycatcherdeviceHouse full of pesky flies? Want to get rid of them? Want to do it in style? This Flycatcher has a special non-toxic bait at the bottom of the jaws to lure the fly in. When the sensors detect the insect, they shut the jaws and swat it dead. And then? Then it’ll burp! And do it over again. Very cool!

I just don’t want to be the one to clean up the unavoidable mound of dead flies… By the way, I’m pretty sure Gizmodo broke the product page by linking to them, but apparently you can purchase the catcher for 36$ and an extra 4$ for the bait. You’ll just have to wait until the site is fixed and go see.

Kenwood’s HDM-555, true automotive entertainment

HDM-555
This is the mother of all car entertainment/navigation/amusementation systems. At least… the cars in Japan.

Now why is it so special? Ok, so. Let’s see. It comes with a 20Gb hard drive, so you can store your MP3s, WMAs, videos or GPS maps. It has GPS of course. It plays regular CDs and DVDs, if that’s your thing (I like retro, so it’s ok). And if you have the right speakers, you also get DTS sound. But, the cherry, is the iPod interface. Plug-in your iPod, and you can navigate it and control it through the touch-screen. Hmmmm… lovely stuff.
